Shard View House

Tottenham, London

The main brief was to create a room for relaxation and retreat within a busy family house. A parents’ suite was designed with a freestanding bath angled to capture a key southerly view – a serene glimpse over rooftops towards trees and The Shard beyond, flooded with natural light throughout the day.

This key view was further celebrated with the introduction of tapered internal reveals (increasing the angle of visibility from within the space), and an upholstered window seat for reading, or just taking in the vista.

Terracotta pigmented panels were used on the exterior to reference the red tones in the clay / cement roof tiles, copings, chimney pots, and brick parapets of the surrounding roofs. The panels are then repeated internally in the tapered surfaces, to accentuate the key views.
