Staggered House

Highbury, London

A spatial reconfiguration of an existing house to improve connectivity/flow. The solution was to create a series of non-linear linkages between existing spaces, opening up the rooms to each other while still maintaining legibility of the original form plans.

This was successful in creating the sense of intimacy in each space – a series of connected ‘human-scale’ rooms, rather than one large ‘knocked through’ space.

The proposed palette referenced the original 1930’s fabric, but reappropriated to a contemporary look and feel with an honest delineation between old and new.
